NICOLE FRENCH, PSY.D.

Clinical Director

Nicole French, Psy.D., licensed psychologist, joined VBH in August 2015. She separated from the United States Army after nine and a half years of honorable service. She was a recipient of the military Health Professional Scholarship Program in 2003 which covered matriculation fees associated with completion of her doctoral degree at Rosemead School of Psychology in La Mirada, CA. She earned a bachelor's degree from Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL.

Nicole received excellent training and supervision from her clinical internship program at Walter Reed Army Medical Center through her post-doctoral supervision year at Heidelberg Medical Activity. She has worked with highly qualified, talented and seasoned professionals from diverse disciplines in a variety of medical and community settings and has clinical, consultation, crisis intervention, and leadership experience across combat, field and clinical settings. While on active duty, she served as the Chief of Psychology Service at Heidelberg Medical Activity for three years during which time she was deployed to support the mission of the 98th Combat Stress Control unit out of Fort Lewis in Baghdad, Iraq. In the United States Army Recruiting Command (USAREC), she served as a behavioral health consultant at the brigade level and supported the brain health and leader development of leaders and recruiters for five years. She holds advanced certifications as an Integrated Behavioral Health Consultant to Primary Care, Survival Escape Resistance Evasion (SERE), Level C, Certified Psychologist, and Aeromedical Psychologist.

Nicole is inspired by recent findings in interpersonal neuroscience which offer considerable hope and advanced understanding of our biological capacity for healing and transformation. These findings influence the way she lives and practices her profession. She actively collaborates with partners in the community who offer a wide range of services to improve the quality of life for veterans and families.
