Race for a Veteran at the heroRun 5k
Whether you’re chasing a personal best, pushing a stroller, racing as a team, or just showing up to support a runner, there is a place for you here. Hosted by American Asset Corporation and Fairview Plaza, the HeroRun honors our everyday heroes.
Proceeds from the HeroRun benefit Veterans Bridge Home, supporting service members, veterans, and their families across the Charlotte region.
Ways to Run
The HeroRun in Charlotte, NC offers four ways to run:
- HeroRun 5k
- 5k Ruck: carry a weighted rucksack (10lbs minimum for women, 20lbs minimum for men)
- 1k Fun Run
- Kids 1k Fun Run: kids 10 and under race for free
Not interested in running? There’s still something for you. Join the team of sleep-in-supporters, or sponsor a hero by covering the registration cost for a local service member or veteran.
*Costumes encouraged, but not required.
Race Day Details
Strap on your super suits, the races begin at 8:00am sharp.
When: October 31, 2026
6:30am-7:45am: HeroRun registration and packet pickup
7:50am: Pre-race announcements and national anthem
8:00am: HeroRun 5k starts
8:05am: 1k starts
9:15am: Race awards
9:30am: HeroRun wrap up

Superheroes Make an Impact in Charlotte
Since it began, the HeroRun has raised more than $250,000 to support VBH, and the service members, veterans, and veteran families in the Charlotte, NC area.
When you register to race, choose to sponsor, volunteer your time, or make a donation, you’re making a difference in your community.
Frequently Asked Questions
Don’t worry, we’ve got options. The HeroRun is one of our biggest events of the year, and we’re always looking for volunteers—we’d be happy to find a job for you on race day. You can also sponsor a hero (cover their registration fees) so they can race for free. Or you can join our crew of sleep-in-supporters.
Kids 10 and under race for free in the Kids 1k Fun Run.
There are no refunds for this race.
