H.B. Smith is Managing Director, Financial Advisor, The Smith Group at BAIRD. H.B. holds a Physics degree from the United States Naval Academy, an MA in National Security Studies from Georgetown University and an MBA in Finance from Virginia Tech. He also earned his Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA©) designation from the Wharton School of Business.


H.B. graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1983. He served as a Nuclear Engineer and Submarine Officer with deployments throughout the Pacific. He also served in the Naval Reserves in a Mobile Inshore Undersea Warfare Unit with deployments to Puerto Rico, Panama and the Persian Gulf. H.B. also participated in security operations related To the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta."
