Michael Padgett joined Veterans Bridge Home in May of 2023. He is a retired Chief Petty Officer from the United State Coast Guard. While on active duty he specialized in shipboard operations, communications, air direction control, instruction, security, and search and rescue. Upon completion of basic training in 1997 he had duty assignments in Alaska, California, and Virginia. He also deployed twice to the gulf coast in support of the Deepwater Horizon response and recovery efforts.
After retiring from the Coast Guard, Michael and his family relocated to his home state of North Carolina and moved to Charlotte to be close to family and friends. While attending classes at Central Piedmont Community College to complete the requirements for his associate in arts he worked at the college's military support office where he supported veterans and their families in achieving their educational goals. Upon receiving his associates, he transferred to UNC Charlotte where he obtained both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Social Work. While obtaining his social work degrees he interned at a local nonprofit organization that assisted local young adults obtain professional employment through education, training, and mentorship.
